This content is in response to a question asked by the IT Director of a major banking organisation.
IT professionals are a unique bunch. Brilliant with codes, systems and predictability, but when emotions enter the room…yikes!
The event was exploring how Emotional Intelligence can improve the effectiveness and performance of IT bosses and their teams. Often only involved in project work and with limited access to the ultimate end user/s, IT bosses encounter many frustrating situations which can result in unclear outcomes, project overruns, financially costly delays, and damaged relationships with peers, stakeholders and internal customers.
In this clip I relate empathy to visiting your medical doctor, and explore the need for gathering correct information right at the outset to minimise misunderstanding, unhealthy disagreement and to maximise quality and efficiency.
