You don’t have to be an amazingly polished, precise presenter to engage your audience with your message or with you. Great if you are, but being such a perfectionist can bring with it an abundance of challenges.

Rather than being perfect, just be authentic. Of course, you must absolutely know your subject, and help your audience to actually want to listen to you, collaborate with you, and indeed value your contribution to their event.

One easy way to do this, when closing a presentation, is to make your closing statement relevant, and entertaining, if possible. This brief clip was recorded on the morning Boris Johnson became the UK’s Prime Minister. Notice the audience’s reaction. The close is relevant, timely and quite funny too.
