The client’s Head of Human Resources appointed Scott Watson to design and facilitate a two-day Emotional Intelligence for Managers training programme to be delivered to the company’s executive team. The response to this event was so positive that Scott was immediately appointed to facilitate the same programme for more than 100 senior, middle and junior managers within the company.

Background

Harrogate Borough Council had made a significant investment in leadership and management development during a period of significant change.

Committed to developing employees at all levels, and delivering the best service possible to its community, the development project had been received well, but relied almost entirely on external support.

It was decided that the Council would invest in certifying 5 members of its Organisational Development team in the EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360 psychometric assessments.  Contact was made with Scott Watson and he facilitated the 2-day EQ-i 2.0/EQ 360 Certification Training programme.

All 5 participants successfully completed their online examination and the Council now has its own in-house team of qualified Emotional Intelligence Practitioners.  The financial saving made by removing its previous reliance on external provision of Emotional Intelligence coaching is significant.

It was decided that our Organisational Development team would undertake the EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360 Certification training programme so that the Council could reduce its reliance in an external provider of Emotional Intelligence coaching and training solutions and develop greater in-house capability in this important area.

As a public sector organisation it is important that the Council generates value from its development budget.  We have been able to achieve this by removing an existing reliance on an external training provider for EQ coaching and training and bringing these competencies and skills in-house.
